Quindaro Ruins Urban Hike

Founded in 1856, the town of Quindaro served an important role for freedom seekers crossing the Missouri River into Kansas during their journey on the underground railroad. Once a bustling hub complete with hotels, grocery stores, churches, schools and more, the town of Quindaro has been reduced to buried ruins in the hillside of pre-civil war structures in Kansas City, Kansas.

Join us and Urban Hikes KC to hike through the Quindaro Ruins to explore the area and hear stories that keep the pivotal town alive despite its condition. The 3-mile hike is steep, rocky and often uneven. We recommend utilizing your hiking gear: hiking boots, hiking sticks and attire and supplies to protect you from the sun and bugs. There are no bathrooms at this site.
