Greater Kansas City Community Foundation Night Out at the Englewood Arts District Explore one of Kansas City’s historic neighborhoods “where art lives”
In the heart of Independence, Missouri, nestled among historic homes and tree-lined streets dating back to the 1800s, is a four-block stretch of Winner Road looking to reinvent itself. Once known as Englewood Station, a street car brought Kansas Citians to and from the bustling retail, residential and entertainment district, where Garth Brooks and Walt Disney started their careers. The Englewood Arts District is now taking steps to bring life to this area once again, attracting new home buyers, artists of all trades, nonprofit organizations and community investment. We invite you and your family to join us for an evening out in Independence, where we’ll explore the transformation of historic Englewood, including seeing and learning about its focus on community input, affordable housing and the arts. We will also: • Tour the Englewood Arts District arts and community center, see inside the Puppetry Arts Institute and explore surrounding blocks. • Get to know the small businesses contributing to the vibrant community. • Watch master glass blower Kevin Miller at work. • Listen to tunes by Independence resident and Englewood Arts community committee member Joey Marlow. • Enjoy drinks and bites from Vivilore! This exclusive opportunity is reserved for donors who have funds at the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation. We encourage you to bring children, grandchildren or other members of the next generation to enjoy the impact of philanthropy in our community. When? Thursday, September 29 4 to 7 p.m. Come and go as you please! Where? Englewood Arts District 10901 E Winner Road Independence, Missouri We encourage you to register as soon as possible, so we can plan for an appropriate amount of food and drinks.
