Best Practices for Granting: A Conversation with Marcus Walton of Grantmakers for Effective Organizations

As charitable donors, we want to ensure that every dollar we give makes a difference, that every grant helps nonprofits carry out their missions. But how do we know if our grants are effective?

Grantmakers for Effective Organizations (GEO) provides donors with smarter ways to approach both giving and leadership that enable transformational change. GEO’s core principles focus on building capacity; collaboration; flexible, reliable funding; learning and evaluation; strengthening relationships; and equitable philanthropy.

Join other donors and funders to hear from GEO’s President and CEO Marcus Walton, who will share observations about effective grantmaking practices and the critical value of applying a racial equity lens to those practices. Denise St. Omer, GEO Board Member and Greater Kansas City Community Foundation's VP of Grantmaking and Inclusion Initiatives, will join Marcus to discuss leaning into this moment to ensure that philanthropy can serve as a strengthening and unifying presence in our communities.

Date: Thursday, October 1

Time: 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Central
