Donor-to-Donor: Recovery from Substance Use Disorders

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, over 20 million U.S. adults are dependent on drugs or alcohol, and millions more are impacted by their loved ones' addictions.

Recently researchers have pointed to a hidden epidemic within the pandemic, as overdoses have increased and appear to be accelerating. The stress and isolation associated with the pandemic have made sustaining recovery more difficult. Resources are harder to access, and support systems have scaled back or shut down completely.

How can philanthropy better support mental health and substance use care, during and after the pandemic?

Join us virtually to learn how organizations in Kansas City and across the country are using lasting, comprehensive and holistic recovery options for those seeking recovery and for their loved ones. We will hear from:

•  Gary Henson, Shatterproof
•  Brandon Scarborough and Lou Steele, Be Free
•  Sharon Weber, The Haven at College
•  Susan Whitmore, First Call

Date: Tuesday, October 20

Time: 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Central

Please note that donor education webinars and events are open only to Community Foundation donors, their families and advisors.
